Myth #1: The major focus of the pharmacist is medications
FALSE!
Pharmacists rarely count our tablets/capsules and utilize pharmacy technicians and counting machines to fill and label prescriptions
Patient Care is many pharmacist’s main focus

Myth #2: The Pharmacist’s Quality Care Plan is not possible in the Community Setting

Wisconsin Pharmacy Quality Collaborative is a network of community pharmacies in WI with pharmacists who provide medication therapy management services
Wisconsin is very progressive with what they allow pharmacists to do

Myth #3: Pharmacists are underutilized by other Healthcare Professionals and Patients
TRUE!
Many people are not aware of a pharmacists knowledge and skills
Reasons:
Poor sales people
Work behind counter is invisible
Provide services without payment
Not visible in many healthcare settings
Unaware of education and training
Myth #4: Turf battle between physicians and pharmacist regarding medication
NO!
Physicians are better trained at diagnosis and pharmacists are better trained on medication therapy

Myth #5: Pharmacists don’t administer drugs- nurses do
FALSE!
All 50 states, pharmacists are licensed to administer vaccination
CDC recently praised pharmacists for role in providing routine flu vaccines, as well as shots for other health problems that are preventable
Myth #6: Pharmacists do not prescribe medications, only fill prescriptions because they are just failed doctors
